FASTag Annual Pass at ₹3,000: Save Big on Highway Tolls in 2025
FASTag Annual Pass Launched at ₹3,000: Big Savings for Frequent Highway Travelers

Starting August 15, 2025, Indian highway travel is about to get a whole lot smoother—and cheaper. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, under Nitin Gadkari’s leadership, has officially introduced a new FASTag-based annual pass for private vehicle owners. Priced at ₹3,000, this all-India highway pass covers up to 200 toll trips or 1 year—whichever comes first.
What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?

Until now, only select corridors allowed monthly toll passes—and only for one toll plaza. But this new system changes the game. With a one-time payment of ₹3,000, users can enjoy seamless toll access across all national highways in India, at any FASTag-enabled toll plaza.
And the math? It’s quite compelling.
200 trips ÷ ₹3,000 = ₹15 per toll trip—a huge drop compared to the usual ₹70–₹200 charged individually at many tolls.
How to Activate the Annual Pass

Getting started is easy. Beginning August 15, you can activate or renew the annual pass via:
- The official NHAI or MoRTH websites
- The Rajmarg Yatra mobile app
A dedicated link will be published on these platforms closer to launch day.
Importantly, the pass will be tied to your existing FASTag account, so there’s no need for a new device or registration.
Who Should Opt for It
If you use highways often—for work commutes, intercity drives, or frequent road trips—this pass could offer significant savings and greater convenience. It’s especially ideal for:
- Daily commuters between cities
- Highway-based service professionals
- Road-trip enthusiasts
- Families who frequently travel by car
By reducing toll charges and eliminating the need for frequent top-ups or monthly passes, the system also cuts down on wait times, congestion, and disputes at toll plazas.
What the Government Says
Announcing the scheme on X (formerly Twitter), Gadkari stated:
“This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas within 60km and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. It aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions.”
This move also aligns with India’s broader push for digital payment adoption and highway efficiency, offering private car owners a value-driven, time-saving toll solution.
Our Take

The new FASTag annual pass is not just about saving money—it’s about streamlining highway travel for Indian drivers. With predictable pricing, easier renewals, and nationwide coverage, this could soon become the default choice for anyone hitting the highways more than a few times a month.
As the rollout nears, stay tuned for official activation links and further details via NHAI and MoRTH. Until then, consider if this yearly ₹3,000 investment could be your best move for hassle-free travel.
