Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Officially Unveiled in China — A Bold Challenger to the Tesla Model Y

Xiaomi is back with a bang. After making a strong debut in the EV world with the SU7 sedan, the tech giant has now taken the wraps off its second car — the Xiaomi YU7 electric SUV. And make no mistake, this one’s aimed squarely at the Tesla Model Y.

The YU7 might not be on sale yet — pricing will only be revealed in July, and deliveries are still a while away — but Xiaomi has laid all its cards on the table when it comes to design, performance, features, and tech. The YU7 continues Xiaomi’s design philosophy seen on the SU7, but with an SUV twist. With a claimed 200,000+ deliveries of the SU7 in under a year, and pre-orders stretching deliveries to a year, Xiaomi clearly has public interest on its side. The YU7 is a more practical, high-performance EV option with broad appeal.

Kia Carens Clavis is the only model in the 7-seater MPV segment below Rs 20 lakh to come with a diesel engine in India. Kia India recently announced the price of the all-new Carens Clavis MPV in the country. Priced between ₹11.50–21.50 lakh, it comes with two petrol and one diesel engine option, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. It’s available in 6- and 7-seater layouts and will rival the likes of Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Rumion.

The turbo petrol also comes in a 6-seater HTX+ trim with manual, iMT, and DCT at ₹19.40 lakh, ₹19.70 lakh, and ₹21.50 lakh, respectively—directly rivalling the Maruti Suzuki XL6 (₹11.83–14.83 lakh).

Finally, the 1.5L diesel engine—available only in the 7-seater format—offers a 6MT or 6AT transmission and is priced between ₹13.50–19.50 lakh. It faces no direct competition as no other MPV under ₹20 lakh currently offers a diesel powertrain. The closest diesel rival, Toyota Innova Crysta, starts at ₹19.99 lakh.
